swim lessons

The kids have been going to swimming lessons just about every morning this summer.  They have really enjoyed it!
Dusty's back float
Hayden's back float

Kyrie's back float - It's funny she has had an upset look on her face just during swimming lessons almost everyday.  But she really does enjoy it!  She talks about how much she loves it, and she was brave enough to go down the big green slide all by herself.  She talks about her swim teachers and is so excited to go and then we get there and as soon as it is time for her to get in the water, she acts like she doesn't want to be there, and as soon as she gets back out of the water she comes to me and is all smiles and tells me how much fun it is.  She has been so funny!

bling

Both of the boys got some new bling at the end of the school year.  We found out Hayden was in desperate need of glasses.  The eye doctor didn't want to give him his full prescription that he needs, she said it is too drastic of a change, so we will go back next year and get his full strength prescription.  I think he looks adorable in his new glasses!  Dusty was a bit - ok, a lot jealous that he didn't need glasses too!  And he was even more upset that Hayden got to get his glasses the last week of school, and he had to wait until the week after school got out for his new bling.  He was so excited to get braces!  We have been told for a couple of years that he would need them, and we finally got them!  They have not bothered him a bit.  He says the worst part has been the expander, which he has had in for a couple months before the brackets.  The expander made him really sore, and he spent about a week learning how to talk and eat with it in, and he is looking forward to having it taken out in the next few months.  The braces have been a breeze for him and he thinks they are SO cool!!!  I only hope he still thinks they are cool in a couple of years when he goes back in for phase #2.

love notes

My Dusty Boy is always coming up with ways to say I Love You.  He sticks notes everywhere, leads us on hunts to find the notes, flies paper airplanes at us with love notes written on them, writes poems, sticky notes, anything he can think of.  I love him and his thoughtfulness!  Thanks for the constant reminders Dusty Boy!

love my ky!

Last night I was reading a story to Kyrie and the story was about a little girl.  The girl grew into a teenager, a mother and then a grandmother.  Kyrie said, "no, that isn't Katie, it's a different girl".  I explained to her that it was Katie, she just grew up to be a grandma.  Then I told her I was a baby, a little girl and now a mommy, and I will grow up to be a grandma too.  And she cried!  She doesn't want me to be a grandma, she wants me to be her mommy!!!  She really was disturbed by it, but I promised her I would always be her mommy.  And I love that she will always be my daughter!  Love you Ky!

mom day

Our Mother's Day was so nice and enjoyable this year.  Thanks to Chris who helped make it relaxing, and for him and the kids who showed their love for me.  Mother's Day was always the first day we would head up to the mountains to go for a hike and roast a hot dog.  Last year we made the attempt after church to do the same, but we drove and drove and couldn't find a piece of mountain to use for a few hours.  So this year we pretended our backyard was the mountain and it was almost just as enjoyable.  We had a lot of fun!

Dusty is trying to avoid breathing in smoke, he is such a weirdo!
Because of some recent events, for Mother's Day, the kids showered me with cards and poems and Chris got me a fireproof/waterproof safe to store copies of all my digital files and other momentos, and a fire escape ladder - he and Dusty decided to try it out!

Thanks to my family for the great day, I am so blessed to be the mom of 4 awesome children!
